Local golfers Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley, and Rickie Fowler will all be taking advantage of their off week by competing in Medalist Golf Club’s Member-Guest tournament in Hobe Sound.

A Jupiter Island Resident and Medalist Club member, Woods will pair with Golf Channel host Ahmad Rashad. The two will face off against Hall of Fame basketball player and Jupiter resident Michael Jordan and his guest, Tequesta resident and PGA tour pro Keegan Bradley.

Also participating in the tournament is defending member-guest tournament champion Rickie Fowler. The Loxahatchee River Resident will once again pair up with his business manager Sam McNaughton, with whom he won last year’s trophy. Keep Our Beaches Clean!
GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO DO A GOOD DEED!  It is time for the monthly beach clean-up…Please join Lynne Wells and her group of Blue Friends Society on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 at 8:00am – 9:00am at the back gate of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.  This is a perfect opportunity to keep our beautiful Juno beaches and ocean environments clean.  The clean-up lasts one hour and it is open to everyone who is interested.  Following the one hour clean up, volunteers are invited to join for a light refreshments sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Palm Beach Gardens. Please help keep the beach that the turtles call “home” free from liter and debris.

For the third consecutive year, Els for Autism will host its golf challenge at 21 golf courses in the United States and Canada. The super-regional events will take place from April through September.

Teams will be playing for their “Honorary Captain”, a child on the autism spectrum who they play and fundraise in honor of. A team’s fundraising ability is valued as much as their performance on the course. Teams will compete for a selection of first class Regional prizes and all groups raising at least $13,000 will enjoy a two-day extravaganza of golf and entertainment in Las Vegas hosted by Ernie and his wife Liezel in October.

The Anquan Boldin Foundation Charity Golf Celebration will be held at BallenIsles Country Club on Thursday April 11th. The shotgun start tournament will be a part of the three day Q-Festival that Boldin and his foundation will put on for the ninth consecutive year.

The Anquan Boldin Foundation, also known as Q81 for the #81 that he wears on the field, is dedicated to expanding the educational and life opportunities of underprivileged children as well as benefiting youth programs in Boldin’s home state of Florida. The Foundation exercises scholarship and dental programs for children. It also serves the community by awarding great scholastic and community achievement in youth.

Professional Golfer: Ernie Els

Golf legend, Ernie Els and his chartable foundation announced Tuesday, March 5 their plans to build a groundbreaking center for autism right here in Jupiter, Florida. What the foundation is calling “an epicenter for autism research, transition and treatment” is sure to be of immeasurable benefit to our society! 

Els and his team have put together the plans to build a $30 million charter school in the Limestone Creek area of Jupiter. The center will focus on giving children, ages 3 to 21 years old, the best quality of life when living with autism.

On March 22nd, the Palm Beach County chapter of Habitat for Humanity will team up with the PGA South Florida Foundation to host the 6th annual Home in One Golf Classic. The event will be held at Jonathan’s Landing on the Fazio course.

A Tee It Up Cocktail Reception will be held the evening of the 21st at the Villages Course and will feature silent and live auctions. Some of the auction packages being offered will include 2013 Presidents Cup tickets, 2013 LPGA Solheim Cup tickets, a weekend of golf and resort stay at Casa de Campo as many other destination resort get-a-ways. This week some of the best golfers in the world have gathered at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens for the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. While everyone will flock to the Champion course to catch a glimpse of Tiger, Rory, and others try and take down the famed Bear Trap, the Honda Classic is much more than just the Thursday-Sunday tournament.

The Palm Beach Mall in West Palm Beach has been a longstanding part of Palm Beach County since the day it was designed. Originally opened in 1967 the Palm Beach Mall had a phenomenal reputation. It was the largest mall on the southeastern seaboard and it was the first ever, fully enclosed, climate controlled shopping complex. For its time and for years to come, the Palm Beach Mall really was an icon for great shopping with flagship stores like Lord & Taylor, Sears and Burdines.
