We’re about to hit you with a hard fact that might scare you, but it’s for your own good. Over 70% of ovarian cancers are diagnosed when the cancer has already spread beyond the ovary and throughout the abdomen. Because of a sheer lack of awareness and early detection, over 14,000 women will lose their lives to ovarian cancer this year, according to the American Cancer Society.

This is how you can help! In observance of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Evo Italian in Tequesta will be hosting a special “Girls Night Out” to benefit H.O.W., a non-profit organization that supports ovarian cancer research, educational programs, and provides funding for women with ovarian cancer in financial need.

Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA) ranked ninth best airport in the nation, according to Travel + Leisure Magazine.

Airports across the U.S. were rated on access, check-in, security, restaurants, bars, shopping, and design by readers of the popular travel magazine.

Stand-out features of PBIA are its eight-hole putting green, a full service salon and spa, the KidZoo play area, outdoor fenced-in pet relief areas, nursing suites, free WI-FI, charging stations, nine restaurants, and two bars.

On August 25th, 2018, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse will be hosting a moonrise tour to view the full moon from the top of the lighthouse.

On this day, the moon will be in “Waxing Gibbous” phase, meaning it is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a full moon, with the complete full moon actually happening at 7:56 am the next morning.  However, the moon will be high in the eastern sky around sunset, and will be 99% illuminated, providing for an all-around picturesque view.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the August full moon is called the Sturgeon Moon because sturgeon (a type of northern fish) are more easily caught in August during this moon. Hopefully, in true South Florida style, the stars will align and lucky fisherman will be calling this

In 1987, an iron cannon was found by two surfers who reported it to the lifeguard, Peter Leo, on Jupiter Beach. Two days later, the same lifeguard found the cannon while swimming and contacted Captain Dominic Addario, a master mariner and marina owner, for help investigating the mysterious find. Throughout two weeks, they discovered more cannons, then silver “pieces of eight”, rare gold coins, and a 78-pound ingot of silver!

Later to be known at “Jupiter Wreck,” the artifacts and treasure was found to be from the wreck of San Miguel De Archangel in 1659. According to archival records, this ship was most likely an “aviso”, a relatively fast ship who’s goal was to carry crown documents to Mexican colonies from Spain, and report back to the monarchy

A lively little speakeasy on the Singer Island has quite a backstory. As the legend goes, McCoy was a moonshiner here in South Florida during the times of Prohibition.  He had a hidden speakeasy and a reputation for the best moonshine. People from all walks of life came to indulge in his spirits. To hide from authorities, McCoy had livestock and goats on his land.  The only problem was that the goats would knock over the stills and drink the moonshine.  Guests of the speakeasy loved to watch the drunken goats and relish the evening.
