The Roger Dean Stadium located in downtown Abacoa in Jupiter is home to two professional teams during Spring Training, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins. The two teams practice and play games for the upcoming Major League Baseball season.
The Miami Marlins compete as a member of the National East Division in the Major League. Their home park is The Marlin Park in Miami, Florida. The Marlins have gone on to win two World Series Championships in 1997 and in 2003.
The St. Louis Cardinals compete as a member of the National League Central Division. The name of their home park is the Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. The Cardinals have gone on to win 11 World Series Championships, the last one being in 2011. The Cardinals have been training in Jupiter since the stadium opened in 1998, where they relocated from St. Petersburg, Florida.
The stadium is one of just two stadiums to host two Major League Baseball teams every year for Spring Training in Florida. The two professional teams share the stadium for games, but have their own outdoor batting cages, numerous pitching mounds, practice fields, and conditioning rooms.
In addition to being the host of the Spring Training games, the stadium is the only one in the country to host four minor league teams. Two teams are part of the Class A-Advanced Baseball Florida State League, the Jupiter Hammerheads and the Palm Beach Cardinals. The other two teams are part of the Rookie-Level Gulf Coast League, the Gulf Coast Marlins and the Gulf Coast Cardinals.
The first Spring Training game starts next Friday, February 23rd with the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals playing each other for the opening game. The game starts at 1:05 pm and the tickets range in price. There are 29 Spring Training games planned to be played for this February and March. Both teams have arrived and have begun practicing for the upcoming games.
