With the summer weather fast approaching, getting out on the water is one of South Florida’s most popular outdoor activities. Since 2010, the State of Florida has required anyone born after January 1st, 1988, to obtain their Boater Safety Identification Card by taking an approved state course if they wish to get behind the wheel of a boat. 

Florida does not have a “boating license” but a Boating Safety Education Identification Card. The card is proof of a successful completion of the course and a pass on the exam.  The Identification Card is valid for life and no renewal fees or continuing education course is required once the course is completed and the exam is passed. The Juno Beach Fishing pier is a popular destination in northern Palm Beach County for locals and visitors. 

The fishing pier is a 990-foot-long T-shaped pier that offers great saltwater fishing. The Pier is home to a full-service Pier House that features a friendly Guest Service Team, bags of ice, snacks, drinks, various fishing gear, tackle, fishing poles available for rentals, and much more.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show is coming back to Palm Beach County. The popular and one of the biggest boat shows in the country will be in our area next weekend. 

The show features over $1.2 billion dollars’ worth of yachts and supplies including over eight hundred boats ranging in all different sizes, from 8 feet to over 100 feet in length. The Boat Show doesn’t just feature hundreds of boats and yachts, but also includes an Aqua Zone, Educational Seminars, a Science Center, Culinary Experiences and much more. 

Tickets are on sale now for the big weekend. Tickets include 1-Day Tickets, 2-Day Tickets, and VIP Tickets. There will be no box office at the event, tickets will need to be purchased in advance.

Divers across the globe have their eyes on the Jupiter coast for the next few months, as hundreds of goliath grouper -- some the size of golf carts and up to eight feet in length will make their way off the coast for mating season. This annual phenomenon, known as the Atlantic Goliath Grouper aggregation which provides divers with a one-of-a-kind experience right off the Jupiter coastline. The Goliath Grouper is the largest of the grouper species in the western hemisphere. The grouper can reach 8ft in length, weigh more than 1000 lbs and has a lifespan of 30-50 years. Their heads and fins have tiny dark spots, their sides irregular dark bars, their tail is rounded, and their eyes are small.

Red snapper anglers from Southeast Florida must be elated south of Jupiter up the coastline to Jacksonville. Each year, NOAA Fisheries announces the season-opening dates for red snapper in federal waters of the South Atlantic Ocean and the recreational season length.

Federal fishery managers announced last week that they would get a two-day recreational fishing season in 2022. Red snapper anglers in the Atlantic Ocean will have a chance to bring home one snapper per person with no size limit.

The recreational sector will open for harvest on the following 2 days, July 8 and 9, 2022. The recreational season opens at 12:01 a.m., on July 8, 2022, and closes at 12:01 a.m., on July 10, 2022.

You can fish in the Loxahatchee River. The Loxahatchee River in Jupiter is a wide body of water named from the Native American Seminole word for “river of turtles”. The most popular species caught on the Loxahatchee Riverfront are Snook, Crevalle jack, and Mangrove snapper. Hook and line are the only permissible forms of fishing.

The Loxahatchee River is a 7.6-mile river near the southeast coast of Florida. It is a National Wild and Scenic River, one of only two in the state, and received its federal designation on May 17, 1985. The Loxahatchee River flows out of the Jupiter Inlet and into the Atlantic Ocean.
