The Honda Classic
For the past twelve years, The Honda Classic Golf Tournament has been played at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens. The popular golf tournament was founded 47 years ago in 1972 and has been held in Palm Beach County since 2003. The prior location of the tournament before PGA National was Mirasol Country Club from 2003 until 2006.
The PGA National Resort and Spa has been the home of the Honda Classic since 2007. The golf club consists of five elegant and challenging courses each with a total of 18 holes. The five courses are The Champion Course, The Palmer, The Estates, The Squire, and The Fazio. Each year the golf tournament is played on The Champion Course. The course was redesigned in 2014 and is now famous for “The Bear Trap”, which consists of three challenging holes the 15th, 16th, and 17th. The holes were designed by the local resident and professional golfer Jack Nicklaus.
Over 200,000 visitors are expected to attend the golf tournament this year to see some of the greatest golfers compete for the title. Returning Champion’s and local residents Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler have committed to play this year as well as Brooks Koepka.
