The Palm Beach Mall in West Palm Beach has been a longstanding part of Palm Beach County since the day it was designed. Originally opened in 1967 the Palm Beach Mall had a phenomenal reputation. It was the largest mall on the southeastern seaboard and it was the first ever, fully enclosed, climate controlled shopping complex. The Fed Cup World Group Play-off will be returning to Delray Beach this April for the third time in tournament history. The Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center will host the event as it returns to the state of Florida for the first time since 2007. Team U.S.A. is undefeated when the tournament is played in the state of Florida. They swept Belgium in 2005 and 2007, both played in Delray, and they defeated Australia in 1995 when the event was held in Aventura.

The winner of the best-of-five match series will advance to the 2014 World Group and have a chance to compete of the Fed Cup title next year. Team U.S.A. will host Sweden and will mark the fifth matchup between the two countries in Fed Cup competition with the U.S. leading the series 3-1.

Florida Golf Course

Rain wreaked havoc on the opening day of the week long festivities associated with the Honda Classic at PGA National yesterday. The Miami Dolphins Pro-Am was cut to only nine holes after a 30 minute rainstorm intensified, causing tournament officials to call the event in order to preserve the courses conditions for this weekend’s event.
 
“We want to make sure the golf course stays in the best condition as we work toward Thursday,” tournament director Ed McEnroe told The Palm Beach Post. “We don’t want it to become too sloppy out there and potentially affect the golf course come competition time.
