While most of the golfing world will descend on Congressional Country Club this week for the AT&T National, there will be one big name that surprisingly will not be found on the tee sheet.

No it’s not Tiger Woods. The world number one and Jupiter Island resident announced last week that he was going to be pulling out of his own tournament due to an elbow issue. The name missing from this week’s event in Bethesda, Maryland is world number two Rory Mcllroy.

After all, it was Mcllroy who won his first major at Congressional when he won the 2011 U.S. Open with a record score of 16-under par. Instead, the Palm Beach Gardens resident is opting to play overseas in The Irish Open. This will be the seventh time in his career that Mcllroy will play in the event…

Ernie Els had an impressive showing at the U.S. Open two weeks ago. A final round of 69, one of the low rounds of the day, gave him a fourth place finish. Els took that solid play into this weekend’s BMW International Open in Munich as the Jupiter resident recorded his first win of the season.

The Jupiter resident shot rounds of 63, 69, 69, and 69 to record the wire-to-wire victory at the European Tour event. It was his 28th European Tour title and came just one week after his first top 10 finish of the year at Merion.

The win was also the first by a South African born player in the 25 year history of the event. Entering the weekend with a one shot lead, Els entered the final round in a three way tie at the top. As the other two golfers faltered, Els…

The Lighthouse Cove mini-golf course will be a 36-hole facility located in Jupiter and is expected to open in the fall.

Land clearing has begun on the vacant 2-acre property on the east side of State Road A1A, across the street from the Jupiter River Park mobile home park. Located just north of Jupiter Beach Road, the facility will also feature a 2,000 square foot, two-story building that will have a restaurant and ice cream store in it. In addition, there is also a plan in the works for an 8,000 square foot preserve area on the property.

The mini-golf facility is said to fit the “funky fishing village” feel that the town is trying to create along A1A between U.S. 1 and Jupiter Beach Road. The complex will be open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm and…

At last week’s U.S. Open, Tiger Woods seemed to show a noticeable wince when he hit out of the thick Merion rough and now we know why.

On Wednesday, Woods announced on his website that he has a left elbow strain and will take some time off over the next few weeks to recover.

"I was examined after I returned home from the U.S. Open, and the doctors determined I have a left elbow strain,'' Woods said on his website. “I have been advised to take a few weeks off, rest and undergo treatment. I'll be ready to go for the British Open, and I'm looking forward to playing at Muirfield.''

While Woods was not specific about when or how the injury happened, it is believed that he injured his elbow on his way to winning The Players…
