2019 Derby Party In Palm City | Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation
A Kentucky Derby party hosted by the Equine Adoption and Rescue Foundation and Caring Children Clothing Children will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. This is the second year for the fundraiser, which promises participants a ton of fun.
Early bird tickets are $50 until April 30, and $60 thereafter.
The event will be held at ERAF’s Community Center at 6450 SW Martin Highway in Palm City. Activities will be held outside on the lawn and in the community building. There will also be opportunities to meet the horses and tour the barn.
During the pre-derby festivities, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps and other beverages while listening to musicians Chuck Callaway and Steve Satch, also known as Two Dad DooDad.
A silent auction will provide guests a chance to vie for great gift baskets and help to raise money for the two nonprofit organizations.
Another highlight of the afternoon is the parade of the handsome thoroughbreds, all rescues, who are enjoying their new life at the Palm City horse shelter.
In true Kentucky Derby tradition, ladies and men are encouraged to wear hats; glamorous, humorous or outrageous, everything goes. In fact last year’s hat contest winner was Gianni Crescini modeling a straw hat covered in roses with a horse perched atop.
Guests can also bet on their favorites horses to win, place or show with tickets. They will enjoy watching the Derby pre-show and all the racing activity inside on a large screen.
Every guest will leave a winner, knowing they’ve helped the disadvantaged children and rescued horses that will benefit from the event. Nearly $8,000 was raised last year to support the free clothing and literacy programs of Caring Children Clothing Children and the horses cared for by Equine Rescue last year.
