This week is the final week to get to experience the Out of this World Exhibit at The Gardens Mall. For the past several weeks, The Gardens Mall in partnership with the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has brought an interactive and imagination filled journey through outer space.

The exhibit has taken over a store front on the lower level of the Gardens Mall near Saks Fifth Avenue. Those who wish to participate can experience a journey among the stars from the surface of the moon to the mission on Mars. Guests will even be able to interact and wonder through a space station to a space capsule and will be able to name a star at the end of the adventure.

Many are unaware that Jupiter, Florida was the site of three distinct wars. Native Americans occupied this territory and honored to this day.  Many names of our towns are named in honor of the indigenous people who once lived here.  Names such as Tequesta and Miami are names of Native American tribes that once lived here. The Loxahatchee River was not originally named "Loxahatchee".  It is an Anglicized version of the river's earliest Seminole name, "Locha-hatchee" meaning turtle river.  The Seminoles occupied much of Florida.  After the American Revolution, Spain regained control of Florida from Britain. The Seminoles set up farms and acquired land grants from the Spanish.

On select Saturday and Sundays of every month, the River Center in Jupiter teams up with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flotilla 52” to provide a series of Boating Safety Courses. The course is targeted towards young boaters in our community, but all are welcomed to attend and learn about the safety on the water.

The River Center is hosting Boater Safety Course this Saturday and Sunday. The class will be completely virtual and taught in a lecture-style class. The class is free to attend but a $10 dollar deposit is required to reserve a spot. The deposit will be returned at the end of the class. Once the two-day virtual class is completed and the exam taken, the young boaters will receive their Florida Boater Safety Identification card that can be used

Grandview Public Market, in the Warehouse District of West Palm Beach, is presenting FREE performances this summer to benefit local charities. From May through August, the concerts will be the last Saturday of each month. Twenty percent of the bar will be donated to the featured charity.  Additional money for the charities may be donated at the Grandview Public Market’s vendors point-of-sale.

Grandview Public Market’s mission is to introduce distinctive culinary and cultural experiences to its visitors and grow a community where everyone is included.  The Warehouse District is made up of a series of industrial buildings that are converting into something unique. Jupiter’s Abacoa is hosting their monthly Food Truck Invasion this Friday night in their Downtown Area. On select Friday nights, Food Trucks line up along Town Center Drive to offer some of their best and authentic dishes.

The Food Trucks come from all over South Florida and feature a variety of food ranging to tacos, burgers, pastries, ice cream, Asian, Italian, specialty dishes, Cuban, and much more. The popular Food Truck event happens of the second Friday of every month in Downtown Abacoa, and the event is very popular among the locals.

Palm Beach County women are reminded this week, National Women’s Health Week, to prioritize their health and wellbeing by concentrating on themselves. The intention of the week is to raise awareness about manageable steps women can take to improve their health. 

Maintaining regular check-ups is one of five health habits that can improve a woman's health. The others include physical activity (walk the beautiful beaches here), a healthy diet (lots of fresh farmer’s markets in the area), not smoking and follow general safety rules (SPF every day). There are so many healthy habits easily incorporated in the South Florida lifestyle.

Jupiter’s River Center is hosting their Paddle with a Partner Public Kayak Tour this Thursday, May 13th. The tour will begin from Lainhart Dam and travel through the freshwater swamp for a chance to see wildlife.

Bring your addle buddy and join in on the fun with your local neighbors. The cost is $20 dollars per person and registration is required due to limited space.

For the tour, all equipment is provided. Those planning on attending should bring their own water, water shoes, sunscreen, and anything that will make them comfortable in nature.

The tour is recommended for modern to advance paddlers, but all are welcomed to attend. The journey will include narrow waterways, heavy vegetation, and strong currents.
