ChaseN’Tailz, a KDW sports fishing tournament dedicated to keep Chase Warren’s legacy alive and spread awareness all while raising money that is much needed for research.
Who is Chase Warren? Chase was a baby born on October 1, 2012 as what appeared to be a healthy boy turned quickly into a heartbreaking tragedy. Over the next ten months, Chase was continuously getting sick and doctors could not diagnose the cause of his symptoms. As Chase was getting sicker every day, he passes away on August 7, 2013. Two days after the tragedy the Warren family received their son’s diagnosis, Gaucher Type 2, this was fatal and untreatable.

The River Center has created a fishing tournament for Junior Anglers to participate in this summer. This Fishing tournament encourages kids to explore the variety of local fisheries and to learn more about our area and its exceptional aquatic habitats, all while learning how to improve their fishing skills. Junior Anglers between the ages of 5 and 17 should register at the River Center where registration packets are available.

Participants can send in photos throughout the summer of their catches from freshwater to saltwater. Points add up with each submission based on the variety and number of species caught.

Will All Aboard Florida be stopped in their tracks? New high-powered group formed to stop the train.  The recently formed Citizens Against Rail Expansion (CARE FL) has joined the campaign to combat the proposed passenger trains and increased freight trains running through our area. CARE FL hired a highly skilled Washington D.C. attorney with experience in fighting rail projects.

“The more opposition the better,” said a K.C. Taylor, a representative from Not All Aboard.  Not All Aboard collected nearly 20,000 signatures on their online petition and in person.  “I’m excited there’s another group that’s going to spread awareness.”

Encore Entertainment at the Firedogs Saloon in Fort Lauderdale has created this 12 week competition. It has some of the elements of the notorious television shows such as The Voice and American Idol but limits the music genre to only country music. The competition acts just like the television shows which have blind judging, as well as the audience’s vote and comments from the judges on each of performances. Jupiter’s Carlin Park will be cloaked in mystery July 12-15 and July 19-22 for the 12th Shakespeare by the Sea Festival.  The Seabreeze Amphitheater will be transformed into a deserted island for this adaptation of the Shakespeare classic comedy of the “Twelfth Night” as it is reimagined with a contemporary twist.

Although the “Twelfth Night” is being revisited again at the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival after 22 years “ this production promises to be more complex than ones done in the past” according to Executive Producer Kermit Chrisman.  They have infused the concept of plane crashes and landing in the setting of the 400-year-old classic tale, on a deserted island theme.  A must see concept.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue and Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center is putting on the annual Big Dog Fat Cat fishing tournament on July 11-12 at Sailfish Marina to help raise money and save our furry friends.
It is estimated that each year approximately 3.7 million dogs and cats are suffering in our nation's shelters, more than 10,000 animals a day. Due to the down economy, shelters have increased their majority of animals by 20%. The vast majority of the proceeds from the Big Dog Fat Cat KDW Shootout will help our local pet population by donating to the Big Dog Ranch Rescue and Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center.
