EVER WANTED TO FEED A SHARK?? Feed One Right Here in Delray Beach!
Tuesday through Saturday at 10:30am and on Sundays at 1:30pm at the Sandoway House, in Delray Beach, the marine wildlife specialists feed the sharks that live in the 15,000-gallon tank. Visitors will be right by the action! You can watch the live feeding and as well as learn loads of interesting facts about Florida’s marine life and the sharks. Admission is $4 per person (children 3 years and under are free). Every morning at the Sandoway House, the marine wildlife specialists feed the sharks that live in the 15,000-gallon tank.Don’t miss the opportunity to hand feed a shark! The marine experts at the Sandoway House Nature Center create a protected and educational environment for its guests, so walk you can walk on the wild side safely. This experience with nurse sharks is a rare chance to get up close and personal with such an exceptional creature. All of the visitors can watch the feeding but only one lucky participant will be selected to feed the sharks each day and you must have a reservation to feed them. Make sure you book it fast! To make the experience educational, the staff will discuss fascinating facts including the characteristics of the nurse sharks, what their feeding habits are like and so much more.
Rules for the Feeding:
1.   To participate in this activity you cannot be allergic to fish (handling of fish is necessary).
2.   Must show up at or before 10:15am (Tues-Sat) or 1:15pm (Sundays) for instruction on how to feed the sharks safely.
3.   Must wash hands before and after feeding.
4.   Must sign a waiver and release of liability form.
5.   Must follow directions!
6.   Have fun!!
The shark feeding is not the only exhibit you will want to see when you visit the Sandoway House Nature Center. Some of the other amazing exhibits include: the discovery porch, which is home to a variety of Florida’s turtles like gopher tortoises, box turtles, soft-shelled turtles and yellow-bellied sliders, the coral reef and shark tank, the reptile room which is filled with all types of reptiles including native and invasive species to Florida, the Wreck tank which features a hexagon shaped tank with replicas and renditions of the famous Delray Wreck or the S.S. Inchulva, a long steamship that wrecked due to a hurricane back in 1903, finally you will be able to see over 3,000 different shells in the shell room.
