Florida's Sale Tax Free Holiday On School Supplies

For students in Martin County and Palm Beach County, this weekend is the last weekend of summer and the last weekend to take advantage of Florida’s Tax-Free Sales Holiday on clothes and school items.

The Tax-Free Holiday began on July 31st and continues until Monday, August 9th, just in time before the school year starts. During this time, shoppers will be exempt from sales tax in the state of Florida for certain school supplies, clothing, and electronics. The tax will automatically be discounted at check out when purchasing qualifying items.

Students go back into the classroom in Palm Beach County on Tuesday, August 10th and students in Martin County go back into the classroom on Wednesday, August 11th.

Qualifying Items Include:

  • School Supplies (Less than $15 dollars per item)- pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks, glue, calculators, and rulers.
  • Clothing, Footwear, and certain accessories (Less than $60 dollars per item)- includes clothing, shoes, wallets, and bags.
  • The first $1000 of the sales price of personal computers and certain computer related items- including personal computers, desktops, tablets, electronic book readers, keyboards, modems, routers, and monitors.
