Thanksgiving is over and now, for at least a few weeks, it’s back to business as usual. The only difference between this Monday and last Monday? Several pounds, mostly around the waist. If you live in the Palm Beaches and are looking to shed some of that Thanksgiving weight, here are a few fun ways you can exercise and make room for Christmas!
Lake Trail Biking
Lake Trail is a paved biking trail in Palm Beach that is over 9 miles long, it’s also one of the most scenic places to exercise in all of South Florida. Totally traffic-free, Lake Trail hugs the shore of Lake Worth, with views of statuesque royal palms lining the waterway as sailboats and yachts glide by.
Jogging in Jupiter
With miles of beaches and a variety of natural parks, Jupiter has plenty of places to go jogging. You can try jogging along the beach or on the mulch trial by Carlin Park, or you can go over near DuBois Park, either way jogging is great exercise and it’s a great way to avoid falling TOTALLY out of shape over the holidays.
Kayaking or Canoeing
With the Intercoastal Waterway, the C18-canal and the St. Lucie River, the Palm Beaches offer plenty of opportunities to those looking to exercise on the water. You can also try Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP), which is another fun alternative to traditional exercise.
Have the Right Mindset
The final thing to remember is that, particularly over the holidays it’s important to have the right mindset. What that means is that you shouldn’t beat yourself up for gaining a few pounds or for enjoying yourself and indulging in some foods you might not otherwise eat. The shared experience of eating food with friends and family is more important than any diet and you can always compensate for whatever you gain by simply being active and monitoring what you eat the next day. When the next day does come, however, make sure that you get back to your fitness routine and stick to it—at least until Christmas!
