"Give Back, Get Back" Event at PGA Commons
For the next week, PGA Commons in Palm Beach Gardens is hosting an event called "Give Back, Get Back" where shoppers can donate school supplies for needing local children in exchange for 10 percent off at participating restaurants and shops.Â
Now through August 5th, patrons can donate pencils, paper, backpacks and other items to get 10 percent off at Vic & Angelo’s, Prosecco Café, Menchie’s, The Tux Shop, Bamboo Clothiers, T is for Table, New Beginnings, Onessimo Fine Art and Studio E Gallery.
While Palm Beach County's homelessness rate has dropped 18.6% over the last year alone, there are still around 4,000 homeless children in the area who are in need of supplies with school starting in the next couple of weeks.Â
Supplies needed include: pencils and pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, markers, crayons, rulers, construction paper, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, paints and paintbrushes, scissors, pipe cleaners, highlighters, erasers, hand sanitizer, tissues, backpacks and more.
The supplies will be donated to Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center, the area’s oldest children’s charity. Since 1939 they have provided educational programs and materials to underpriviledged children in Palm Beach County.
