GROMMET'S TAVERN & EATS in JUNO BEACH
From the farm to your table is the concept of the new restaurant, Grommet’s Tavern & Eats which was recently opened in Juno Beach, Florida. The name is a twist of two words, Grom, a local term that young surfers are called and Gourmet, hence the name Grommets’. Ironically, the name fits well due to being steps away from the sandy beaches making it the ideal location next to Loggerhead Plaza. “I want this to be a ‘come as you are’ restaurant. Come from the beach, from the golf course, from shopping, from work, with boards, briefcases or strollers. All are welcome,” says Casey Kerlin, owner of this great new restaurant.
Kerlin is a strong believer for protecting and supporting the environment all while enhancing local farms and fishermen in our South Florida area. She has always believed in making as small as a carbon footprint as possible. Recycled materials from thirft shops are used all throughout the restaurant. “I used furniture, chairs, dishes, silverware – everything that I could get. I had to buy a few glasses so we could pour a proper beer … but everything else was reclaimed.” The interior of the restaurant was intended to imitate a barn look with unique touches, even the flooring is made up with recycled paper bags.
The Grommets’ menu is ever changing as they only serve food that is Florida fresh and grown locally. You will not find a freezer or microwave at Grommet’s. “We source local from Jupiter Farms and outward within Florida and everything is insanely fresh and if it is out of season, we won’t have it,” said the chef. For food pairings, they offer a wide variety of Florida craft beers on tap as well as a nice selection of wines. It’s a unique atmosphere as they do not follow the ordinary rules and never have the same item over and over again.
The new dining spot is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until the last diner leaves. Check out the menu here!
