Veterans Day is a day Americans honor those who have served their country in the armed forces.   It is always celebrated on November 11 and it is not a day to be confused with Memorial Day.  Memorial Day is a day set aside for those who have died in service to their country.

Veterans Day is for all who served in the armed forces.  On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, in 1918, an armistice (agreement) was reached between Allied Nations and Germany.  World War I officially ended. On November 11, 1919, Armistice Day was commemorated for the first time with parades, speeches and brief suspension of business activities at 11:00 am.

On Veterans Day today, and all year, in South Florida honors its veterans. Veterans and active duty military personnel are welcomed to free  Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Olive Garden, Chili’s, IHOP, Hooter’s,  with many national chains honoring veterans today.  For a more comprehensive list of freebies for Veterans Day check out Military.com.
