World renowned, British artist, Gordon Cheung has his newest exhibition on display at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach. “Gordon Cheung: New Order Vanitas” is the artist’s most recent curation of inspired floral master pieces which in total he calls “Breaking Tulips.”

Cheung drew his inspiration from some of the most prized art pieces in the world, 17th Century Dutch and Flemish paintings. Vanitas are still life paintings from the Dutch Golden Age.

This body of work Cheung has created is called “New Order” which pays homage to “the financial crisis of 2008 and its precursor in western economic history, the “tulip mania” which wiped out many fortunes in 1637. Cheung graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2001 and he exhibits internationally; his works are found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, among others” according to Ann Norton’s website.
