One of Palm Beach County’s best kept secret is Northwood Village. There are lots of trendy restaurants, with new seafood, Peruvian, Thai, and Southern eateries in the Northwood Road Shopping District. This is a great time to visit Northwood Village while it is still uncrowded.

Luxury condo towers are planned for North Flagler Drive and nearby, Currie Park overlooking the Lake Worth Lagoon and Palm Beach. A developer is planning on 350 apartments, mixed with galleries, shops, offices and a plaza on an area known as the “anchor site.” There’s also discussion of a greenway corridor along the railroad tracks.

The seven-block district, founded in the 1920s, by boat builders, bootleggers, and others, is 1.5 miles north of West Palm Beach. Some have compared Northwood Village to Coconut Grove before it was overbuilt.  The Northwood Villages Hennevelt Gallery, owner Nickie Hennevelt boosts “it is a quaint little village with amazing shops and a great vibe.”

Last year, American Express recognized the Northwood Road Shopping District as one of its “2020 Neighborhood Champions.” The corporation founded “Small Business Saturdays” a decade ago and offer other fun community events.

The last Friday night every month is Art, Dine and Design, which features FREE wine tastings, FREE sweet potato pie samples, FREE “tiny door” kits, as well as pop-up clothing, craft and houseplant sidewalk sales, live art demonstrations with one themed, “ethnic mermaids.”

Harold’s Coffee Lounge is a popular spot to enjoy FREE comedy, such as The Therapy Sessions riffing on Frenemies. Harold’s is also offering a FREE Creatives Pop Up Market monthly, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. the last Friday of the month through November 26, 2021.

The Skunkworks Brewery offers live music in its courtyard on Fridays, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
