“Operation Care for Heroes” sponsored a benefit for the U.S. War Dogs Association at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar and Castaways Marina in Jupiter last month.

The U.S. War Dogs Association, Operation Military Care K9 is facing major challenges to keep our Deployed Military Working Dog Teams supplied with what they need. Summertime heat can reach temperatures in excess of 140 degrees! They are in desperate need of cooling pads, K9 eye drops, “doggles”, boots for the dogs and cooling bandanas for the dogs and the handlers.  The U.S. government does not provide cooling products for the soldiers.  The military does not provide chew toys or treats for the canines.  The violence has led to loss of many soldiers’ lives, both human and canine.

The event raised funds in support of U.S. military canines and their handlers through “Operation Care for Heroes” along with the U.S. War Dogs Association.  Proceeds from the event purchased supplies and postage to send care packaged items to the canines and the handlers currently serving in Afghanistan.  The Dog Wash for Heroes was just one way in which civilians can help.  Admission to the event was $10 per dog and $10 per owner.

If you would like to help, and are in the Jupiter/Tequesta area,  please help by donating any item listed on the 4-legged heroes “wish list” and drop off at the Village Veterinary, 1662 North U.S. Highway 1, Suite D, Jupiter, FL at your convenience.  For more information, please visit OperationCareForHeroes@gmail.com for complete details.
