This past weekend at Rybovich Superyacht Marina, over 85 boats from all over Palm Beach County showed up to support the much-needed research and awareness of prostate cancer by fishing in the Anglers For The Cure KDW Tournament.

The day of fishing proved sparse for most competitors, with kingfish being the only species that seemed to truly be showing up. Although most teams tried zig-zagging for wahoo at first light, the only wahoo caught was reeled in around 2 pm. At 22.9 pounds, it weighed in and won 1st place wahoo (and only wahoo on the board) in the Mark Gerretson Memorial Fishing Tournament in Delray Beach, as well as number one and only in the Anglers For The Cure Tournament. Dolphin was hard to find as well, and as usual it came down to being in the right place at the right time, but no true bulls were brought in. Plenty of bonita were gobbling some goggle eyes, having most teams regretting forgetting to enter the “Bonita Bonanza” category.

REEL DECISIONS was crowned as the “King of Kings” receiving a $5000 prize for largest kingfish of 40.8 pounds, and took the 3-king aggregate with 77.2 pounds, with top junior and top goddess categories remaining empty.

36' Invincible NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE scored first place with a 39.3 pound king in the KDW Kingfish category, the “Female Goddess” (Lady Angler) category, and the “Largest Fish” category. Second largest kingfish was WHITE’S TACKLE with 38.4 pounds, and BOOTLEGGER/JAEGER came in third with 36.2 pounds.

The KDW tournament had a full scoreboard besides the wahoo portion, with SLIMER taking first place with a 22.9 pounder and vacancies for second and third place. Largest dolphin was 22.9 pounds reeled in by TOTALLY HOOKED, with REEL DEVOCEAN coming in second with 14.1 pounds, and RENEGADE coming in third with a 12.6 pound mahi.

BADASS BALLYHOO was awarded second place in the lady angler division with a 33.4 pound king, and WHITE CLAW was awarded third place with a 30.4 pound king. TONGALINE took first for Junior Angler with 12.7 pounds, ISLAND RUNNER took second with 9.9 pounds, and BURNING DELIGHT took third with 9.8 pounds.

Over $18,000 in cash prizes were awarded.
