Palm Beach County Calm - Sunrise and Sunset
Life can be very chaotic and a day at the spa day may not be in the cards. Palm Beach County has built in “calm” just by taking in a stunning sunrise or spectacular sunset. With first light and last light times you can indulge in self-awareness and tranquility.
It's no secret that the beaches here are beautiful and a great way to spend the day but even if you’re like most of us with families, jobs, to-do lists etc. that may not be possible. Why not take a little time for yourself? Carve out 5 minutes to sit quietly, breathe and observe a sunrise or sunset and center yourself.
Breathwork refers to types of breathing techniques. People often perform breathing exercises to improve mental well-being. During breathwork you intentionally change your breathing pattern to decrease stress and improve their emotional state. There are several breathwork approaches. You may want to try out a few different techniques over time to see which type most resonates with you and brings about the best results.
Through the practice of breathwork, you may learn to have a greater awareness of the present moment. There are many forms of breathwork. One of the most basic techniques involve lengthening your exhales. By lengthening your exhales, you can calm your mind, balance your emotions and slow down the nervous system. Breathe in through your nose and exhale longer than normal. Try to completely empty your lungs. Repeat slowly for a minute or two and notice a sense of tranquility, watch a sunrise or sunset, and note how calm you feel after the breathing exercise.
UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center provides some free guided recordings for individual practice. They range from a few minutes long to about 15 minutes long. Breathing practices are a natural way to calm the soul, free of medication. Give it a try, you may find it works for you.
