HISTORY OF LILLY PULITZER
Lilly (McKim) Pulitzer was a chic, Palm Beach socialite and hostess whom was married to Peter Pulitzer who owned a number of citrus groves in Florida. Lilly liked to sell her husband’s tasty, fresh squeezed juice out of a modest stand just off of glam Worth Avenue. Her idea for the colorful and kooky prints came out of her necessity to disguise the splash stains she would endure after a day selling juice. Her customers and passerby’s alike took a strong liking to her patterns including customers like Jackie Kennedy. Lilly started drawing up more prints in a wide array of colors to sell at her juice stand. Today Lilly’s unique prints are sold in Lilly Pulitzer boutiques across the United States and one store in Bermuda.
