PGA National Will Host Q-School Finals
PGA National has hosted some of the biggest events and biggest names in golf over its illustrious existence. It hosted the Ryder Cup in 1983, the PGA Championship in 1987, the senior PGA Championship from 1982-2000, and since 2007 has become the permanent home of The Honda Classic. The new Web.com Qualifying School Finals can now be added to that list.
The Jack Nicklaus designed Champions Course, the same course The Honda Classic is played on, as well as the Fazio Course will now play host to some of the best young golfers looking to earn a spot on the Web.com Tour in year two of the new revamped qualifying school. Last year saw a change in the Q-School process where for the first time, the top finishers in the six round final round earn cards on the Web.com Tour instead of the PGA Tour.
The Q-School Final will move from one Jack Nicklaus designed course to another as in 2013 it was held at the Nicklaus designed PGA West.
“The Web.com TOUR is where the journey begins for tomorrow’s superstars to make a name for themselves,” says Joel Paige, Vice President and Managing Director of PGA National. “Our Champion and Fazio courses are ideal venues to test a player’s mettle and see what they’re made of as they vie to compete on the largest stage in golf.”
Now in its 24th season, the Web.com Tour is the top developmental tour in the United States and is the only one in the US with a direct line to the PGA Tour. The Finals of the Web.com Qualifying School will be held December 11-16.
