SHIPS & SAILORS COME TO FLEET WEEK in FORT LAUDERDALE

Broward Navy Days Inc., will host its 25th Annual Fleet Week Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida May 4 – 10, 2015. This event remains one of the top events for Broward Navy Days (BND) every spring; the union is similarly devoted to energetically supporting our seagoing services year-round.

What to expect at this Fleet Week is that there will be hundreds of Marines, Coast Guards and Sailors arriving on ships to participate in a week full of frivolous fun and entertaining activities and also community service projects at locations all across South Florida! Such as “All Hands on Deck,” Public Ship Tours with special days for students, veterans, ROTC, & sea cadet groups, Take a Hero Fishing as well as Public Concerts by Navy Band Southeast in Hollywood and Pompano Beach, Florida including so much more!

For nearly a quarter of a century, warships have been steaming into Port Everglades to give hundreds of Sailors and Marines a chance to let loose and unwind and Fort Lauderdale is such an awesome place for various outings to help soothe and enjoy the great environment! 

“In addition to events commemorating the 25th anniversary of Broward Navy Days, Inc., Fleet Week Port Everglades will also celebrate the 225th anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard and the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Naval Reserves with special receptions.”

Hours are long, pay is low, and physical hardships and family separations are part of the job," explained Mary Anne Gray, chair of Broward Navy Days, Inc. "Fleet Week provides an opportunity for the citizens of South Florida to meet and thank these heroes while witnessing first-hand the latest capabilities of today's modern Navy and maritime services."
