The Robert Morgade Library in Stuart is hosting an ongoing speaker series called "Outreach," and this week Historian Josh Liller will give a presentation about the history of the Coast Guard on the Treasure Coast.

The Coast Guard had a large role in the development of Stuart, Hobe Sound and Jupiter when it merged with the Lighthouse Service of the Jupiter Lighthouse in 1939. Josh Liller will talk about the military operations of the lighthouse, the local Loran Stations, and the overlooked contributions the Guard had in the area. His presentation will also feature current research statistics and photos from the Coast Guard Historian's Office. Q&A will happen afterward.

The Outreach Speaker Series: The Coast Guard in Hobe Sound & Jupiter will be held on Wednesday, May 16th from 6-7 p.m. It's free and open to the public.

Morgade Library, 5851 SE Community Dr., Stuart, FL 34997.
