While Worth Avenue is renowned as one of the world’s prominent shopping areas, known for its high end boutiques, galleries and charismatic via’s, Worth Avenue’s history is steeped in and architecture too.

“Summon Henry Flagler, conjure up Addison Mizner and channel other characters as you stroll through Old Palm Beach on one of Worth Avenue Association's popular "Historical Walking Tours of Wonderful Worth Avenue" according to the Historical Walking Tours of Wonderful Worth Avenue.  The informative historical walking tours are led on specific Wednesdays during the season and Saturdays through the summer.

Residents of the area became very fashionable.  Staying fashionable started with the construction in 1918 of the Everglades Club at the west end of an unpaved street.  Merchants began to move south, to what would become Worth Avenue, when rising rents at the swanky Beaux arts Building on Lake Trail. The first stores were built near the Everglades Club on Via Mizner and Via Parigi.  The via’s were named for Worth Avenue's original developers, Paris Singer and renowned architect, Addison Mizner.[1] In the 1920’s, the shopping area became known for its high-quality retail in the 1920s. As it grew, the vendors on the promising street formed the Worth Avenue Association in 1938.
