The Gulfstream Sailing Club is one of Broward County’s oldest sailing clubs founded in 1957. The active club holds many water filled events and fun activities throughout the year such as the annual Beach Bash, Gulfstream Sailing Regatta, races on the ocean and lake in Hollywood, Florida as well as sailing lesson for adults and children!

Learning to sail on a lake in Hollywood, Florida is offered by the Gulfstream Sailing Club. Cruising along into the breathtaking sunsets and experiencing the natural beauty of Southeast Florida. The sessions have been running throughout the summer, where learning sailing basics is key. Participants learn how to tie knots, how the boat is assembled and what to do in important situations while reading and beating the wind.

Many kids and adults return year after year, while safety being put firstly at Sailors Point. “We teach them about what to do to be safe on the boat, if the boat tilts over what to do, if somebody falls overboard what to do,” Oliveira said. “I got braver and braver and I faced my fear,” a recent child said. “The instructors taught me everything I know right now.” Austin now enjoys sailing. “I like the fact that you can relax in the boat and you need to find the wind. Now I know where the wind is coming [from] by looking at the ocean and how to control it and things like that,” he said.

The nonprofit Gulfstream Sailing Club offers memberships, sailboat rentals and fun activities for the entire family!
