Morikami has a rich history dating back to over a century. In 1904, Jo Sakai, a young graduate of New York University, returned to his homeland of Miyazu, Japan, to organize a group of pioneering farmers and return to what is now northern Boca Raton to start a garden. With the help of the Model Land Company, a subsidiary of Henry Flagler’s East Coast Railroad, they formed a farming colony they named Yamato, an ancient name for Japan. This weekend in Downtown Boca Raton is the celebrated Boca Raton Fine Arts Show. The Fine Arts Show will be in town Saturday, January 23rd and Sunday, January 24th from 10am until 5pm each day.
