The first day of Spring for the Northern Hemisphere was yesterday, Thursday, March 19th. The first day of Spring for the United States and the rest of the Northern Hemisphere is the day the sun crosses the celestial equator moving northward, which usually falls on March 20th or March 21st.  The day is known as the Vernal Equinox.
