Tiger Woods Suffers Wrist Injury During Final Round of the Masters
Tiger Woods made his return to competitive golf this past week at the Masters. It was the first time since he competed in a PGA Tour event since his first round withdraw at the Farmers Insurance Open in early February.
Despite many experts predicting that he wouldn't even make the cut, Woods not only made the cut, he was in the third to last pairing of the day in the final round on Sunday.
Woods ended up finishing in a tie for 17th at 5-under after rounds of 73-69-69-73. While the Jupiter Island resident was able to complete all four rounds and for the most part look like the Tiger of old, it came at a cost.
His tee shot on the par 4 9th hole on Sunday came to rest in some pine straw just right of the fairway. When Woods hit his second shot, his club came in contact with a hidden tree root. Woods immediately droped his club and started to favor his hand. He went on to make par but after the round, disclosed to CBS in an interview that he had in fact injured his wrist on that second shot.
"A bone kind of popped out and the joint kind of went out of place. But I put it back in,” Woods said.
Tiger went on to say that he was proud of the way he played, but that he would be taking some time off before his next start, likely The Players Championship at TPC Sagrass May 7-10.
