Luxury home buyers are looking for anything but cookie-cutter. They want unique architectures, colors, materials, and textures that other buyers haven't seen. Convenience, style, and recreation opportunities are at the top of their wish list. Here are some trending designs:

Earth Tones and Mixed Metals

Pantone's colors of the year are Greenery, Hazelnut, Kale, and Flame. They are used on walls or as pops of color for accents. Antique brass, rubbed bronze, brushed nickel- mix them all. Luxury home designers say there's no reason to stick to one metal throughout the house, the variety adds flavor to the home. This includes fixtures, vases, lamps, etc., giving the space an industrial minimalist look.

Professional Grade Kitchens

Bigger is better in the lavish kitchen. Extensive counter space and commercial appliance upgrades are necessities for luxury buyers. Shiny professional-grade appliances that can be fully stocked are important for parties and the holidays both for rudimentary and for show. 

Smart Technology

The demand for smart homes have soared. Homeowners want to be able to control their systems with one touch. Wallpads to control temperature, lights, shades, cameras, etc., and access from smartphones when they're away are essential. Some homeowners have also switched to voice assistants with devices like Alexa and Google Home.

Oversized Closets

Huge closets with built-in organization like floor-to-ceiling shelving is what buyers like to see. Think designer show room. And the master closet isn't truly a top-tier master closet if it doesn't have an island and chandelier.

Spa Bathrooms

Wall-to-wall stone, stand-alone tubs, and walk-in showers with body jets and steam are in style in the modern bathroom. Even more classy features like touchless plumbing fixtures and heated floors and toilet seats are increasingly wanted by high-end buyers.  

Fully Functioning Outdoor Spaces

Luxury outdoor areas are beyond bars and sound systems, they're now coming with built-in brick pizza ovens, barbeques, refrigerators and more. Basically an outdoor kitchen with a nice covered sitting area and fireplace is key to a cool backyard. Another increasingly common feature is the collapsible window wall, where the barrier between the indoors and outdoors literally disappears into the wall, giving residents who entertain many guests extended comfort and space. 

Additions

Many luxury homeowners have remodeled their homes to include awesome theaters, workout rooms, and indoor sports areas like basketball courts. This is the "extra" many high-net-worth people like to see. They've also switched from basement wine cellars to chilled glass enclosed wine rooms to showcase their collections. Since most luxury homes come with a view, especially the oceanfront ones in Palm Beach County, large pools with an infinity edge are simply stunning.
