The third tallest building on Miami Beach is the Akoya Condominium. Standing 150 meters, it is 47 stories tall and built in 2004. It was one of the last very tall buildings permitted before the 1998 height ordinance of 200 feet was put into effect. Originally, the community was supposed to be called the White diamond, to match the 170 meter Blue and Green Diamond condominiums; however, the final developer removed the diamond-shaped top of the building and called it the Akoya.
There are a total of 528 units, with 11 units per floor. Some of the amenities of the building include a residents-only fitness center, tennis court, racquetball facilities, and swimming pool.
