Jupiter Farms Real Estate

Jupiter Farms is a suburban, some would say “rural,” part of the Town of Jupiter. Totaling an area of about 15 square miles, “the Farms” is home to about 12,000 residents. The community has a family-feel with plenty of room to raise kids. Only fifteen minutes from the beach, The Farms is a perfect medium between a full-blown equestrian community like Wellington versus something more like, say, Jupiter Island.

Jupiter Farms Community History

Jupiter Farms was started in the 1960s with the vision of giving those who want an alternative to cookie-cutter lot lines and identical houses. In Jupiter Farms, you must have a minimum amount of land, 1 acre, there is no maximum! Over years, a rustic shopping center anchored by a Publix, have been added to the Farms but the area still very much maintains its rustic roots.

Things to Do in Jupiter Farms

Living in Jupiter Farms affords residents with many options. Namely, the fact that by living in the Farms you give yourself enough room to do many different things with your yard. You can have horses, cows or other livestock, you can raise chickens, you can grow fruits and vegetables, or you can set up a basketball court and trampoline and create a wonderland for your kids.

Aside from the homemade options, though, here are some other things to do in and around Jupiter Farms.

Visit Riverbend Park

Riverbend Park in Jupiter Farms is a place where you can take a step back in time and enjoy walking, bicycling, riding, or canoeing through beautiful and historic Riverbend Park. From the ancient Indian middens, through the Seminole War Battles, to present day restoration, see Florida as the first settlers did. Nearly 10 miles of hiking/biking trails, 7 miles of equestrian trails and 5 miles of canoeing/kayaking trails allow for hours of enjoyment. Stroll along the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River, visit the Cracker Farmstead, and picnic in the shade under a Seminole chickee.

You can also go to the Jupiter Outdoor Center if you want to go kayaking or canoeing.

Go to the Beach

One of the best things about living in Jupiter Farms is that you don’t have to make the difficult, classic South Florida, choice between having more land or living closer to the water. In the Farms you can have your property (with room for your boat) and your beach too, with only a short ten-minute drive.

Go Snorkeling or Scuba Diving

For people in South Florida, SCUBA diving is one of the best activities under the sun. You can enjoy marinelife and all the physical and mental benefits being underwater and under the sun.

Visit the Cypress Creek Natural Area

Like Riverbend Park, the Cypress Creek Natural Area is another place you can go to explore nature and get the most out of living in Jupiter Farms. Spanning both sides of Indiantown Road, Cypress Creek spans over 2,000 acres of mesic flatwoods, wet flatwoods, hydric hammock, wet prairie, depression marsh, dome swamp, and blackwater stream provide a home to over 500 species of plants and 217 species of animals. This site preserves an area of high-quality wetlands and streams, including Cypress Creek a blackwater stream, that buffer the northwest fork of the federally-designated Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River. Historical resources have been found including Native American middens, an area where the Loxahatchee River Battle took place, remnants of the Rood Settlement dating back to the early 1900s, and a segment of the historic Jupiter-Indiantown Road. Visitors can hike, paddle, cycle, or ride their horse on designated trails while enjoying nature all around.

Visit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is a historic staple of Jupiter. If you’ve never been it is a great place to visit with your kids or if you just want to brush up on your local history and climb the famous Jupiter Lighthouse.
