Jupiter Dog Beach is one of the main reasons people love this town so much. It's part of what makes Jupiter so unique. Florida has so many miles of beautiful coastline, but our two-mile stretch stands out as a clear favorite because of a few key distinctions. Jupiter Dog Beach is one of the few dog-friendly beaches in the ENTIRE STATE of Florida where dogs can still run and play off-leash, and it’s been a favorite of locals and visitors for decades. Here's everything you need to know before you go.

Jupiter Dog Beach Location and Access

Since Jupiter Dog Beach is one of the most popular places to be/things to do on a beautiful sunny day, getting there early is important if you want to secure a convenient parking spot (especially during peak season). The section of unguarded beach where dogs are allowed to be off-leash starts just north of Juno Beach Park (where the Juno Pier is) at beach marker #25 opposite Marcinski Road, and goes up to #59, where the guarded beach of Carlin Park begins.  Access points are easy to find, and you'll typically see signs letting you know where the dog-friendly zone begins and ends. But here's a map of the beginning:

Jupiter Dog Beach Parking

The wonderful thing about Jupiter Dog Beach is that there's a lot of parking, and it's all free! There are plenty of parking lots, and there is free street parking up and down that whole stretch of A1A! Most of the time, it's easy to find a spot in one of the parking lots or along the street, but on weekends and holidays (including school Spring Break weeks) when the weather is nice, parking can get pretty competitive. But even on those days, if you get to the beach before ten in the morning, you likely won't have a problem securing a good parking spot.

So, where should you park for Jupiter Dog Beach? Here's a parking map:

Dog Beach Rules You Need to Follow

Even though dogs are allowed off-leash, there are a few simple rules to keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone:

  • Supervise your dog at all times.
  • Pick up after your dog — bags are often provided, but it’s smart to bring your own.
  • Keep your dog under voice control — if your dog doesn’t have reliable recall, consider using a long leash.
  • Be respectful of other beachgoers, including people without dogs.
  • No aggressive dogs allowed.

These rules are enforced by the community, and regular visitors are pretty serious about maintaining a clean, friendly environment.

Best Times to Visit

  • Mornings and late afternoons are the best times, especially during the hotter months. Midday sun can get intense, and sand temperatures can burn your dog's paws. Early and late visits also mean fewer crowds, giving your pup more room to roam.
  • Even on peak days, this stretch of beach is not crowded by comparison to other South Florida beaches. But if you're looking for the most secluded experience, go early to get one of the parking spots on A1A between Marker #30 and #50.

What to Bring

Here's a basic checklist to make your trip smooth:

  • Water and a bowl for your dog
  • Dog waste bags
  • Towel for drying off
  • Sunscreen (for you, and maybe if you have a short-haired dog)
  • A leash for parking areas and non-dog zones
  • Water-friendly dog toys!

Nearby Amenities

If you need a break or a bite to eat, the surrounding area has plenty of dog-friendly cafes and restaurants. Carlin Park and Ocean Cay Park (right next to the beach) also offer shaded areas, picnic tables, and restrooms.

Bonus tip: If you're planning on visiting Jupiter, many local hotels and vacation rentals are pet-friendly!

Why Jupiter Dog Beach is consistently ranked as the best

Jupiter Dog Beach isn't just a place to walk your dog — it's a community. People there respect the rules, respect each other, and, most importantly, help make sure the beach stays open for dogs by keeping it clean and safe. If you're in the area, it's absolutely worth a visit. Just come prepared, watch your pup, and enjoy one of Florida's rare off-leash beach experiences.

See you in the sand!
