43 golfers from around the state and country got one step closer to earning their PGA Tour cards when they advanced out of the PGA Tour’s qualifying school pre-qualifier at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach.

Rourke Van der Spuy of Columbus Georgia won the 54-hole event shooting a three round total of seven under par. He won by two shots over both Tyler McCumber of Ponte Vedra Beach and Evan Beirne of Jupiter. Both McCumber and Beirne shot in the 60s in their final round to finish the event at five under.

Other local golfers to advance included Ben Silverman and Jeff Ivall of Palm Beach Gardens, Scott Turner of Stuart, Josh Hart of Jupiter, and Tyler Kitson of West Palm Beach.

The 43 golfers that advanced will all move on to the first stage of the q-school that will take place between October 8th and October 25th at different golf courses around the country including four courses in Northern and Western Florida.
