On Friday, Admirals Cove held their annual U.S. Open Local Qualifying Tournament, where golfers looked to start their journey of making it to the U.S. Open.

84 golfers teed it up at the Jupiter club and five advanced to the next round of qualifying with Beon Yeong Lee of Canada earning Medalist honors. Lee shot a 64 to win the qualifier by two shots. Brett Stegmaier of Vero Beach and Ken Looper of Mandeville, LA tied for second, both shooting 66s. Armando Zarlenga of Argentina and Santiago Gavino of Austin, TX earned the final two spots with rounds of 67 and winning a 10 for 2 playoff. Should any of them not be able to compete in sectional qualifying, Brady Watt of Australia and Robbie Greenwell are the alternates.

Those five local golfers will now move onto one of the 10 sectional qualifiers on June 8th in hopes of making it into the US Open. The 36 hole qualifiers will hand out U.S. Open spots to the top finishers, with the number at each site being determined by the number of entrants. The US Open will be held June 15-21 at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington.
