Tonight and tomorrow, Saturday the 5th, are your last two opportunities to see The Lighthouse Art Center’s “Art Of The Figure” exhibit in Tequesta.

Art Of The Figure celebrates these three native-born Floridians, who surprise and delight with their unexpected viewpoints, talents, and techniques. Accomplished artists, they translate their individual life experiences using only pencils and paint on canvas, or in the case of Purvis Young, (2018 Florida Artist Hall of Fame), anything he could get his hands on. See Young's work here first, before it heads off to the 2019 Venice Biennale. The three artists being shown are Sam Perry, Terre Rybovich and Purvis Young

Sam Perry

Sam Perry grew up in Northwood and is now one of the area’s most accomplished artists. He achieved success as an abstract artist in galleries in Miami, New York and elsewhere.  Then, in the wake of 9/11, Sam chose to focus on the human figure.

Terre Rybovich

Terre Rybovich has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Armory Art Center.

Purvis Young

Purvis Young was an American artist from the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Young's work, often a blend of collage and painting, utilizes found objects and the experience of African Americans in the south.
