Celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of The American Cancer Society!
This weekend, on Saturday, February 9, 2013, the American Cancer Society Gala of North Palm Beach will take place in the stunning community of PGA National. This is the Centennial Anniversary for the American Cancer Society (ACS), celebrating “100 years of progress in the fight against cancer.”
The American Cancer Society is a forerunner in the research of cancer, its treatments and a cure. They refer to themselves as the “Official Sponsor of Birthdays,” and thanks to them nearly 14 million cancer survivors are celebrating birthdays this year. The central mission of this mighty organization is to destroy the disease that has affected so many lives. ACS is the largest, nongovernmental funding source of cancer research. They have invested over $3.4 billion into cancer research since 1946. Not only have they devoted every part of their organization to helping the lives of those struggling with cancer, they have been a crucial part in every breakthrough science has made toward the fight against cancer in recent history.
Although the research is a colossal sector of the organization, the ACS is more than just a science lab. They have teams of devoted volunteers who give tremendous support to those dealing with cancer as well as their friends and family. Across the nation are 13 divisions governed by a board of medical and lay personnel who dedicate time and energy to promoting awareness, fundraising and public information events.
The North Palm Beach Chapter is hosting another fun and glamorous American Cancer Society Gala. This year’s gala is sure to be an evening to remember. If you would like to join the event, donate or join in a partnership, tickets are still available. Don’t miss your chance to become a part of history and take part in the fight against cancer!
