It’s time to “Spring Forward!” = Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 8, 2015.
Have you had enough of the cool, brisk winter weather? – Cheer up!
Spring time is just around the corner, the season of new beginnings and when the earth comes to life with fresh blooms and temperatures slowly rising again!
The time change officially takes place at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8th, 2015. With modern day technology available, you will not have to spring out of bed because most smartphones, computers, tablets and all other digital devices are programmed to automatically adjust the time change for you. Well, unless you are still doing things the old fashioned way, it is suggested to set your clocks ahead one hour. Unfortunately, you will lose an hour of sleep but on the bright side of spring time, there will be an extra hour of daylight for more fun in the sun for us that live in South Florida!
“Its origins go back to Benjamin Franklin who supposedly came up with the idea. The point of setting back the clocks is to give an extra hour of daylight in the afternoon, while having an hour less of daylight in the morning. Yet, it was not put into practice across most of the United States until 1967. And beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time was expanded --- Americans now observe Daylight Saving Time from the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday of November.”
Most people tend to remember the trick to the clock changing by this quote: “Spring forward, Fall back!”
Reminder: It is encouraged by the National Fire Protection Association and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, that consumers change the battery in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
What are you looking forward to most about the beginning of daylight saving time?
