Do you enjoy bird watching and nature? “South Florida has birds that can only be found here in the United States, such as the snail kite, limpkin, short-tailed hawk and the beautiful crested caracara. Broward County is the best place to view exotics like the Egyptian goose and purple swamp hen. If you want to see the painted bunting, be sure to go on the Palm Beach County wetland trip.”
Everglades Birding Festival gives the opportunity to sightsee and travel through sunny South Florida in search of getting a nice visual of exotic birds in the everglades prairies, mushy marshes and cypress swamps. On January 15-19, join the team of expert birders that lead photo tours and workshops; be sure to register for any or all days at the beautiful South Florida hot spots. The festival includes snacks, water, workshops and helpful handouts intended for all skill levels. View the schedule of events: Everglades Birding Festival.
"A big emphasis is on how to gain advanced birding skills. We teach field techniques, how to identify them, how to recognize habitat, behaviors and how to bird by ear. It's an amazing weekend to get a close look at the Everglades and our unique South Florida environment and the incredible array and diversity of birds that visit this area in the winter," the festvial coordinator, Paddy Cunningham said.
