Are you craving a place for calm and peaceful relaxation? Winding Waters Natural Area, located at 6161 Haverhill Road within the city limits of West Palm Beach. Winding Waters is 548 acres of tranquility and peace with a series of linked marshes and ponds. It is situated between the Turnpike and the Haverhill, south of Dyer Park. Get away from the everyday routine and city noise as you feel the soul soothing air of South Florida.
The wetlands are the park’s main feature as it is designed to provide habitat and nesting sites for birds, plant species and more. There are also pine flatwoods and hammocks around the periphery of the marshes filled with boundless a variety of wildlife throughout the park.
Plan a morning or late afternoon visit. There are serene sitting areas, three hiking trails, a canoe/kayak launch, and selected fishing areas. Weaving through the beautiful cypress swamp are the walking/hiking trails and mountain bike trails. Get your “Zen on” and meditate on the raised path with covered benches or meander through and witness abundant wildlife. Spot deer tracks on the trail, ducks, turtles, herons and at a safe, protected distance, an alligator or two sunning themselves.
