The West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency invites you to a hard hat tour of the newly renovated historic Sunset Lounge. The renovation of this iconic music and entertainment venue is the cornerstone of West Palm Beach’s burgeoning Northwest District. The general concept is to revive the musical roots of the site by creating a state-of-the-art performance and art-focused venue that pays homage to its humble and notable beginning.

The Sunset Lounge was one of the premier African American entertainment venues in the South during the 1940s and 1950s and featured such notable artists as Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Ike, and Tina Turner, Duke Ellington, and Nat King Cole. The famous jazz venue drew hundreds of patrons to watch the notable artists in the south during the “Jim Crow Law” period that enforced racial segregation.

The tour is set for Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. The Sunset Lounge is located at 609 8th Street, West Palm Beach.
