Hawk's Bluff Hiking Trail

Posted by Amanda Hicks on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 at 1:12pm.

Hawk's Bluff is a gateway to a hidden world on the Florida east coast. Apart of the Savannas Preserve State Park, Hawk's Bluff is one of three entrances to the park, but definitely the most spectacular.

The savannas are a 10 mile stretch of low-lying open wetlands from Jensen Beach to Fort Pierce. In these freshwater marshes you can see many different birds, turtles, fish, and even deer.

Hawk's Bluff is in Jensen Beach atop one of the highest points in the area and just over a mile from the ocean. The trail is a 1.1 mile hike down sand dunes into the wetlands. The end of the trail hikes back up onto another hill that has a stunning view overlooking miles of wetlands. It is a beautiful area that is a secret among locals for its incredible preservation.

Experience nature and discover the beauty of Florida on this trail tucked away in the small town of Jensen Beach.

From Jupiter, take US 1 North to Jensen Beach Boulevard. Turn right and continue to Savanna Road where you will turn left. In about 1 mile, you will pull upon a hill with a gate. There is no parking lot but you are allowed to pull over on the side of the road. Enter the gate to begin your trail into a world untouched by humans.

You'll want to make sure to bring your camera to this awesome spot!
