Here in South Florida, we have some of the best Mahi fishing in the world. But every time you try to find a good recipe online it feels like you have to sift through tons of ads, the chef's life story, the history of the recipe, etc. So, we're trying something new.

Here's a super simple, succinct recipe for the best blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich or tacos:

Ingredients:

  • Mahi Mahi fillets
  • Blackening seasoning
  • Olive oil
  • For Sandwich: Buns, lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce
  • For Tacos: Tortillas, pineapple or mango salsa, and chipotle lime crema

Preparation:

  • Coat the Mahi Mahi fillets generously with blackening seasoning.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Cooking:

  • Sear the fillets for about 3-4 minutes per side or until fully cooked.
  • For Sandwich:
    • Toast the buns lightly, then layer lettuce, tomato, and the cooked Mahi Mahi fillet.
    • Top with tartar sauce and close the sandwich.
  • For Tacos:
    • Warm the tortillas, then place a piece of the blackened Mahi Mahi in each.
    • Top with pineapple or mango salsa and a drizzle of chipotle lime crema.
