The River Center in Jupiter is hosting the 5th Annual Jr. Angler Fishing Tournament beginning this Saturday, June 2nd, running through Saturday, July 14th. Anglers will have six weeks to accumulate points in this fun and unique catch-and-release tournament.

All anglers have to do to keep their score is get photographed with the fish they catch and then submit it online. Registration is open throughout the tournament so anyone can join in and try to get the most points over the six weeks.

Contest points are added not only by the number of fish caught, but also the number of different species caught. The purpose of this is to "encourage contestants to spend time throughout the summer exploring the diversity of habitats and fish species in our Palm Beach and Martin Counties" according to a River Center press release.

The tournament is for anglers between the ages of 5 and 17. Be more than a supervising adult and help your child reel in a big one for some family summertime fun. At the “End of Summer" Fish Fry, tournament winners will be announced and awarded.

Recap:

Saturday, June 2nd: Tournament starts

Saturday, July 14th: Tournament ends, entries submitted by midnight.

Friday, July 20th, 6 p.m.: Fish Fry to honor anglers and their families and winners awarded.
