Palm Beach County is applauding local police officers for their passion for not only serving and protecting residents of this beautiful place we call home, but also helping everyone rest easier knowing that they're also passionate about protecting our children. Multiple Palm Beach County police departments, including Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, and Lantana, have signed agreements with the school district to patrol local elementary schools until the district police department hires its own officers.

According to the agreement, officers will be patrolling school campuses a half-hour before school begins through a half-hour after school lets out, and “shall maintain a visual presence at the entrance to the school at arrival and dismissal times and shall move throughout the school during the school day, checking access/egress points and overall security of campus.”

The officers will be first responders to any incident that may harm or threaten students, teachers, or parents on campus, and will not be tending to “non-criminal violations” such as dress code issues that are better suited for school staff.

The Palm Beach County School District Police Department is currently recruiting officers who have a passion for protecting our children. For more information, visit their recruiting website here
