Jupiter’s Newest Dog Park – Opening Summer 2018
A brand-new dog park on Jupiter’s Indiantown Road is scheduled to open summer 2018. The Town of Jupiter has approved a new park which includes and an exercise and play area for our furry friends. The park is an open space located directly north of the intersection on Indiantown Road and Center Street at 2183 West Indiantown Road in Jupiter. The park will be completed in two phases.
In the first phase, the open space park will contain a beautiful green area, ample parking with lighting, a small restroom, a building for storage, sidewalks, gazeboes, a lake, and the dog park. There will be a fenced-in dog run for smaller dogs and a detached dog run for larger breeds
Jupiter residents are looking forward to the opening of the dog park. The Town is delighted to be able to provide another area, in addition to designated beach areas, aimed at local canine lovers to bring their furry friends to keep fit and socialize together. There will be a fenced-in dog run for smaller dogs and a separate dog run for larger dogs. People will be able to enjoy walking their dogs around the large lakes and walking paths in the park.
This new space for dogs has encouraged a change to Jupiter's leash laws. In January 2018, The Town Council considered a proposal to amend the current leash law to specify that dogs must remain on-leash when they are outside of the fenced-in dog run areas. If that is the case, the dogs will not be to permitted to freely run and play at the designated dog beaches. To see the specific proposed language considered by Town Council, please visit the Town of Jupiter webpage.
In addition to the dog park, the $3 million public park plan calls for a natural area, playground, treehouse, and walking paths for people. Dogs are required to be on a leash when they are in dog parks in Jupiter. Once the dogs enter the fenced-in areas designated for dogs, they can be off the leash.
