Jupiter’s Notorious Resident
The people who have owned property in Jupiter for generations have been drawn to this location for 100 years because of the small-town ambience and abundant blue waterways. Recently subdivided was a 160-acre property located at 16133 Jupiter Farms Road, Jupiter. It had an extensive and fascinating history. Back in the 1920’s, the rutted dirt main road was called Italian Farms Road because of the prevailing ethnic makeup of the area at the time. It is rumored to have been a hoodlum hideout belonging to the family of Al Capone, the noted Chicago gangster.
Al Capone and the family built the original home on the property in 1923. Capone was well known for many things. One of his well noted quotes was “'I’m a kind person, I'm kind to everyone, but if you are unkind to me, then kindness is not what you'll remember me for” as well as “don't mistake my kindness for weakness". His business activities were dubious at best.
In 1968, well-known actor Burt Reynolds bought the land, renovated the house on the property and moved his parents in. Reynolds owned the ranch for many years and shot scenes from the enormously successful “Smokey and the Bandit” movie as well as scenes from the television series “B.L. Stryker” here. He also married one of his former wives, television actress Loni Anderson, at the chapel on the grounds in 1988. In addition to the movie studio, the ranch also had a petting zoo and stables. He eventually sold the land and newly constructed homes are available.
The new subdivision is called Reynolds Ranch. Reynolds Ranch is a gated 150-acre equestrian community of 30 luxurious single family new homes in Jupiter. This equine enclave features lakefront homesites just under 2 acres. The community offers access to community horse trails, a paddock and two lakes. For more information, please visit Reynolds Ranch.
