Kayak Fishing in Jupiter | Waterfront Properties
Jupiter has gorgeous Summer and Fall weather. Both seasons are a great time to try kayak fishing.
To do so, you should first, contact a local kayak renter or dealer, like Jupiter Outdoor Center at the Jupiter Inlet, to see if they offer any fishing instruction or lessons. The kayak community is very welcoming. The Jupiter community is based on our relationship with our amazing waterways. There is no better way to enjoy what Jupiter has to offer than to rent a kayak or stand up paddleboard and undertake your own adventure on the waterways.
When it comes to kayaks, it’s like anything else, you get what you pay for. A higher price usually means more features and nicer materials. Here are some things to think about:
1. Borrow a kayak or rent one and try kayak fishing a couple of times before you buy one. It’s cheaper to spend a little extra money on a kayak now versus upgrading later. Buy the best one your budget allows now, and you’ll have it for years.
2. Be visible. Kayaks come in various colors, including many highly visible ones. Paddles can be reflective and very useful.
3. Hire a guide, tell them you are new to the sport. They can help with paddling, boat positioning, rigging, safety, and how to fish from a kayak in general.
4. Finally, stay safe and legal. A life vest must be worn, and you need to have a noise-making device, like an air horn or loud whistle on the kayak. An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon, known as an EPIRB, is strongly recommended to send a distress signal in case of emergency.
