The 2108 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study finds that most homeowners and buyers prioritized storage over all other kitchen uses. Of the 1,700 interviewed, 63% chose storage as the number one desired function of the kitchen.

Homeowners preparing to sell are remodeling their kitchens to add more storage and organization, with features like revolving corner trays, deep drawer organizers, swing-out shelves.

Houzz also found that another common feature among those remodeling is countertops. Engineered quartz is the new favorite kitchen countertop material over granite. Many are opting for an island- to show off more of those beautiful counters and for added storage.

Houzz also says the trending color is white; white backsplashes, white quartz counters, and white walls. Natural hardwood is still also a favorite in kitchens although engineered wood or laminate look just as nice. As far as cabinets, Houzz found shaker cabinet doors and flat-panel are the style of door most popular in recent kitchen remodels.

And finally, technology. Modern kitchens are integrating new electronics like wireless speakers and high-tech appliances that have voice control. Smart tech in the home is continuously preferred, and takes the place of older devices like televisions.
